Seedling Hook

The client wanted a clothes hook for their child’s bedroom that would help teach them to hang up their clothes and accessories. They gave me free rein on the choice of wood and asked for something that would blend well with a nature-themed room—nothing too straight or rigid. With that in mind, I went with a simple strip of waney-edged British Oak, finished with a child-safe coating. The natural, uneven edges of the wood not only eliminate sharp corners but also give a little glimpse into the tree’s history, showcasing knots and grain lines. The hooks, which are extra long and widely spaced, are made from Beech, a wood known for its water-repellent qualities—perfect for those rainy day coats. This design makes it easier for kids to learn the ropes of hanging their belongings, increasing their chances of success.
